The
Challenge

If you’re an entrepreneur, you probably know what it’s like to have an amazing product and not a ton of marketing support to help you make it shine (at least at first). Femi Secrets was a period panty start-up, coming to Newbird looking “only” for a website. The more we talked together, we realized Femi needed a more holistic approach—and our full branding package was the answer.

We took a feminine hygiene start-up and transformed it to look like a Fortune 500 company.

Our
Approach

To create an even stronger brand, we started by looking into what seperated Femi from its competitors. We discovered Femi means love in Nigerian and decided ‘Secrets’ didn’t hold much benefit for the brand name. We then focused our efforts on developing eco-friendly packaging that reflected the brand’s product line and ethics, always having “love” as its core value—an element that would be reflected throughout its updated look and messaging.

Our
Branding

When designing the new logo for Femi, we wanted it to be something that would speak volumes about what they stand for. We started with sketches and moved on to digital designs in order to create an impactful image—a symbol of self-love: the heart becomes one part of the butterfly icon that creates the shape of an ‘F’ within it; graphics which represented the self-love Femi provided for its customers each month.

When designing the new logo for Femi, we wanted it to be something that would speak volumes about what they stand for.

Logos need to be eye-catching, unique, and distinctive. Yet we can’t forgo function. Femi’s branding was developed to be something that was repeatable across every medium: from logo to packaging, website, and business cards (you name it). It’s adaptable on purpose.

Creating A
Design System

A holistic, brand foundation was key for Femi and its future success: from product launches to investor funding. No one, especially entrepreneurs, has time to reinvent the wheel at every turn. We developed a design system that could be easily translated to any aspect of their business development; like packaging for their upcoming pad and wipe products, as well as template PowerPoint pitch decks.
